<\/a><\/h4>\n\u00a0S. Buta Singh\u2019s Background<\/h4>\nAfter annexation of Sikh Empire by the British in1849 the British Government decided to encourage Sikhs for cultivation of barren lands with the apprehension that they might not revolt, as mutiny of 1857 threatened British Raj.\n\nTo irrigate barren lands canals were excavated from river Ravi and Sikhs were encouraged to go for cultivation of barren landscape. The government made a plan at that time to give ninety acres of land, as one unit for Rs three hundreds only that too will be recovered from those when they have income from land\n\nOne unit of ninety acres was allotted to the head of the family and to every eldest son if\u00a0 they are twenty years or older.\n\nS Buta Singh, our great grandfather back in 1879, along with his father in law S Jawandh Singh and his own brother Nihal Singh and others like S Sant Singh, S Bahadar Singh almost twelve sardars; Gill, Shergill, Toor ,Dhillon, Nain Toor of Village Dhing Shah Of tehsil Chuhnia of District Lahore at that time got the lands allotted from the government on Khanewal road which went from Lahore to Multan in tehsil Kabirwala, that is about 25 miles away from Multan.\n\nThe land allotted to them was divided in units known as Kassi numbered as 3-5-7-8 etc. Kassi no.3 was allotted to S Buta Singh which later on named as village Buta Singh Wala. His father in law S Jawandh Singh moved to 5 Kassi and later was called Jawandh singh Wala. S. Buta Singh\u2019s brother S.
